Service Description

July 27th-31st, 9:30-11am This class helps high school students prepare for competitive portfolio review. Taught by professional artist, Elizabeth Suriani, it offers feedback to improve technique, creativity, and presentation for college portfolio submissions. Students can then take the time over the summer and into their fall semester with new ideas and techniques to improve their own artwork. Elizabeth offers additional individual tutoring if students wish to sign up for additional help on their artwork and personal portfolio preparation. This is a one time, hour and half lesson with multiple students to bring their artwork for critique. There will be no more than 5 students present to keep the class size small and able to allow for discussion. Class will be held at Artworks Center for Contemporary Art, with an easel and pedestal provided so students can properly display and explain their work before critique. Tables will be provided the rest of the week. ** Students are responsible to bring both their artwork and additional art materials, this due to the possibility of a very wide variety and Elizabeth will not be able to provide them at this time. The instructor, Elizabeth Suriani’s, way of teaching includes not only learning the “rules” behind art, but finding ways to make it fun, experimental, and playful in a capacity that allows for students’ personal strengths to be at the forefront of their creative process along with it being a well rounded learning experience. Elizabeth Suriani is a local Loveland artist and Thompson Valley Alumni. Her studio is in downtown Loveland at Artworks Center for Contemporary Art and she has worked with the LISA program and Thompson Valley AP students in the past. Suriani has spoken at TVHS and MVHS along with her college and BFA program at University of Wyoming. She has taught art, drawing human anatomy, and portraiture to students ages 11-18 since 2020 with students both online and in person. In her own artwork and business practice, she is an oil painter and specializes in similar themes and subject matter.
